Job summary

selfpublishing.com is seeking a Summer 2027 Social Media Internship in Westlake (Austin) to create and publish content for two brands, including the CEO’s personal voice. You’ll learn to plan, film, edit, and ship content weekly and gain hands-on experience growing a founder’s brand alongside the company.

You’ll work in a fast-paced, in-person environment, collaborating with a small team on short-form formats and performance analysis. Strong editing skills are required.

Qualifications

• Currently a student in marketing, communications, film, or related field.
• Experience editing with CapCut, InShot, Premiere or Final Cut.
• Creative storyteller with a portfolio or samples.
• Self-starter and able to take feedback quickly.
• Interest in entrepreneurship or books is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, film, edit and ship content weekly for two brands.
• Create short-form content for Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts.
• Edit long-form content into short clips for both brands.
• Write captions, hooks, and on-screen text matching each brand voice.
• Help plan and film content in our Austin office.
• Research trending formats and pitch new ideas.
• Schedule and post across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook.
• Engage with communities by replying to comments and DMs.

selfpublishing.com is a back-to-back-to-back INC 5000 company & we’re launching our Summer 2027 Social Media Internship Program. Our mission is to TRANSFORM THE LIVES of authors by helping them write and publish books, grow their businesses, and launch their author careers!

This is an in-person summer internship based in our Westlake (Austin) office. You’ll create real content for two brands: selfpublishing.com and our CEO Chandler Bolt’s personal brand. Your work won’t sit in a folder. It gets posted.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be part of the team that plans, films, edits, and ships content every week. Your north stars? Making scroll-stopping short-form content and learning exactly why it works.

More Specifically, You’ll

• Create original short-form content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) for two brands: selfpublishing.com and our CEO Chandler Bolt’s personal brand
• Edit and repurpose existing long-form content, including podcast episodes and YouTube videos, into short clips for both brands
• Write captions, hooks, and on-screen text that match each brand’s voice
• Help plan and film content in our Austin office, including behind-the-scenes, founder content with Chandler, and team moments
• Research trending formats, sounds, and creators in the author, book, and entrepreneurship spaces, and pitch new ideas
• Schedule and post content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook
• Track performance on your posts and share what’s working in weekly check-ins
• Engage with our communities by replying to comments and DMs

What You’ll Learn

• How to grow a company brand and a founder’s personal brand side by side, and how they work differently
• Short-form editing and storytelling that holds attention

Who We’re Looking For

• Students studying marketing, communications, film, journalism, or a related field
• You know how to edit, whether that’s on your phone (CapCut, InShot) or your computer (Premiere, Final Cut, or similar)
• You’re a creator yourself, or at least deeply creative, and you love telling stories
• You’re the person who’s always saving videos to recreate later or sending yourself hooks you like
• You’re into entrepreneurship and business building, or you love reading, writing, and books (bonus if it’s both)
• Self-starter who can take feedback and turn work around fast
• Bonus: a portfolio, personal page, or any content you’ve made
