Newsday Media Group seeks a Social Media Intern to produce content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, collaborating with the newsroom and NewsdayTV. The role emphasizes growth of Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok pages, with assistance in IG Stories, reels, and short-form content.

The ideal candidate is comfortable on camera, has strong writing skills, and stays ahead of trends. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, and newsroom exposure is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• The Social Media intern creates content for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube in collaboration with the newsroom and NewsdayTV.
• Assist in engagement and sourcing across social platforms, focusing on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok growth.
• Assist with social content creation (IG Stories, feed posts, Reels/TikTok/Shorts).
• Stay current on social media trends and algorithms; adapt strategies accordingly.
• Edit videos and repackage NewsdayTV content with a vertical, social-first approach.
• Use Canva/Adobe Express for post design; optimize videos with keyword research.
• Engage with the community in groups and promote content on Facebook groups.
• Demonstrate strong local audience engagement; comfortable on camera in live and prepared settings.
• Maintain sharp writing, copy-editing, and reliable independent work.

Summary of Position

The Social Media intern produces content creation for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, collaborating with the newsroom and NewsdayTV.

Essential Duties & Functions

• The Social Media intern produces content creation for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, collaborating with the newsroom and NewsdayTV.
• Will be expected to help assist in the overall engagement and sourcing across all social platforms with an emphasis on growing our Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok pages
• Assisting with social content creation (IG Stories, feed posts, Reels/TikToks/Shorts)
• Lives and breathes social media and industry trends/able to adapt to the ever-changing algorithms
• Has video editing experience and can repackage NewsdayTV content with a social-first, vertical strategy
• Knowledge of Instagram feed post creation apps such as Canva, Adobe Express, etc.
• Helps with optimizing videos for TikTok and YouTube with keyword research and platform search strategy
• Community engagement with promoting content in Facebook groups, etc.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or aspiring to have one; newsroom experience is a huge plus
• Expert user of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and Facebook
• Exceptionally strong headline writing
• Must be an expert on memes and other trending societal norms on social media
• Knows how to engage with a local audience, such as through Facebook Groups, community groups, etc.
• Must be comfortable and articulate on camera in both live and prepared settings
• Sharp writing skills and solid copy-editing skills
• Strong analytical skills to respond to data in real time and help guide our social media strategy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work a flexible and varied schedule
• Reliable transportation to and from various locations across Long Island

Physical Requirements

• Must possess a driver’s license in good standing and a means to travel to various locations throughout Long Island.
• 20 Weeks
• $20 hourly rate
• 20 hours per week
