Job summary

TrueNorth in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Social Media Intern to join the Growth Marketing Team and help elevate our social media presence with brand-aligned content. You will learn about content planning, storytelling, and performance reporting while supporting campaigns and scheduling across multiple platforms.

The 11-week paid internship runs May–August 2027 and is onsite in Cedar Rapids. Housing is provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior, or senior status pursuing Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
• Proficient in social media scheduling tools such as Sprout, Hootsuite; Canva or Adobe preferred.
• Prior internship or job experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment; strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication; interest in insurance industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and schedule social media posts across platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook.
• Create graphics, video clips, and multimedia assets for social content.
• Monitor channels for trends, engagement opportunities, and community interaction.
• Track and report on social media performance; suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with marketing team to support campaigns and content calendar execution.

The Social Media Intern will support our digital growth efforts by elevating our social media presence, increasing engagement, and contributing to brand-aligned content creation that positions our expertise as thought leaders in the industries we serve.

Our internship program is an 11-week paid program, running May - August 2027. This position will be fully on site in our Cedar Rapids, IA office. Housing will be provided for those who do not have housing for the summer months in Cedar Rapids.

As a Social Media Intern, You Will:

• Assist with writing, editing, and scheduling social media posts across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms

Education, Experience, & Skills:

• Must be of Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status, currently pursuing a degree or certificate in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field
• Proficient in Social Media scheduling tools such as Sprout, Hootsuite. Canva or Adobe preferred
• Prior internship or job experience preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• The ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ideal candidates will have a genuine interest in the insurance industry
