Job summary

Financial Times in New York invites motivated students to join a paid 10-week summer internship. You’ll collaborate across the FT US team, contribute to social media and audience engagement, and present work to US leadership.

The program pairs you with a Buddy for mentorship and offers exposure to global FT colleagues. The internship runs June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027, pays $22 per hour for 40 hours/week, and requires current authorization to work in the US.

Qualifications

• Experience in journalism with good news judgement
• Experience with design (Adobe Suite or similar) and video editing is a plus
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Good communication, organised, curious, and able to manage multiple projects
• Interest in making FT journalism accessible across platforms

Responsibilities

• Help develop original ideas, experiments and engagement/social media strategies around planned news events and projects
• Assist social media team in producing posts and keeping channels up to date
• Create original social media content (charts, social cards, videos, etc.) to promote FT journalism
• Support reader engagement through reader participation and community projects
• Use data/insights to analyse audience behaviour and inform journalism
• Provide SEO and social trends guidance from listening tools
• Produce panels to promote stories on Google Showcase
