Job summary

Chicago Scholars is seeking a part-time Social Media and Editorial Intern to join its Marketing and Communications team in Chicago. The role will create and manage content for social media and websites, advise on strategy and creative matters, and contribute to stretch projects once a working relationship is established.

The position is a part-time hourly role without benefits. Rate is $17/hour, up to 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to accommodate school commitments and project

Qualifications

• Education: Completed at least first year of college.
• Experience: 0-2 years.
• Must be located in the Chicagoland area and be able to regularly commute to the Chicago Scholars office at 141 W. Jackson Blvd.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Writes and designs social media and web content in collaboration with the Associate Director of Marketing.
• Manages Chicago Scholars social media accounts: posts according to a content calendar, monitors inboxes, and replies to comments and tagged posts using a script.
• Handle small updates to chicagoscholars.org using Wordpress CMS.
• Advise Marketing and Communications staff on Scholar perspective, current social trends; assist with brainstorming and strategizing for new campaigns/editorial calendars.
• Participates in planning and editorial meetings.
• Attends events as assigned for photo and editorial coverage.
• Additional Administrative Duties within the Scope of the Marketing and Communications Team, i.e. Organizing Photo Folders in SmugMug and Canva.
