We are seeking a creative, energetic, and highly motivated Social Media Content Creator to help tell our story and grow our digital presence through engaging, relevant, and high-quality content. This person will work directly with our social media manager who will give creative direction and assignments.

This person will be responsible for capturing and creating photo and video content, developing short-form videos, assisting with social media campaigns, and helping manage content across our social media platforms.

The ideal candidate understands current social media trends, has a strong creative eye, is comfortable behind a camera and editing content, can follow brand guidelines and knows how to turn moments and ideas into compelling stories.

Job Requirements

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in social media, content creation, digital marketing, communications, or a related field.
• A strong portfolio or examples of social media content, photography, video, Reels, TikToks, or other digital work.
• Experience managing or contributing content to platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Experience working in a church, nonprofit, brand, creative agency, or similar environment is a plus.

Content Creation

• Ability to capture high-quality photo and video content using professional cameras and/or smartphones.
• Strong understanding of short-form video, including Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and emerging formats.
• Ability to edit engaging videos with strong pacing, music, text, transitions, and storytelling.
• Ability to create content from concept through final delivery.
• Strong visual sense for composition, lighting, framing, branding, and aesthetics.
• Ability to write clear and engaging social media captions and calls to action.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with video-editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or equivalent software.
• Working knowledge of graphic-design tools such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Basic photography and photo-editing skills.
• Familiarity with social media scheduling and publishing tools.
• Basic understanding of social media analytics, including reach, engagement, views, follower growth, and content performance.
• Comfortable learning new platforms, technology, and AI-assisted creative tools.

Social Media Knowledge

• Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and current social media culture.
• Ability to identify trends and determine how they can appropriately be adapted to our brand and audience.
• Understanding of what makes people stop scrolling, watch, engage, comment, and share.
• Ability to maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across platforms.
• Awareness of platform-specific best practices, dimensions, formats, algorithms, and posting strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

The Social Media Content Creator will:

• Capture photo and video content on a regular basis.

• Assist in developing and maintaining the social media content calendar.
• Write captions and prepare posts for publication.
• Cover events and other important moments in real time.
• Identify stories, people, moments, and ideas that can become engaging social content.
• Monitor current trends and bring new creative ideas to the team.
• Help maintain consistency in branding, messaging, and visual style.
• Review content performance and use analytics to improve future content.
• Collaborate with communications, creative, marketing, leadership, and other teams as needed.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, media, film, graphic design, or a related field is preferred but not required.

For this position, demonstrated creative ability, portfolio quality, social media knowledge, work ethic, and experience may be more important than a specific degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional hands-on social media content creation experience.
• Photography and videography experience.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and/or CapCut.
• Experience creating content in fast-paced live environments.
• Experience interviewing people or capturing testimonial/story-based content.
• Understanding paid social media advertising is a plus.
• Experience working as part of a creative or communications team.
