Job summary

Empower is seeking a Marketing and Social Media Associate to grow our social presence and online profile. You will lead content creation and optimize engagement across platforms, working closely with the executive leadership team.

This in-person role is based in McLean, VA, with consideration for candidates in New York or Miami. You’ll split time between creative content, events, and teamwork, and you’ll help with email campaigns and other marketing efforts while moving fast in a high-growth

Role Overview

As the Marketing and Social Media Associate you will be responsible for growing the company’s social media presence and online profile. You will lead content creation and be responsible for optimizing engagement across all social media platforms. You will have access to the executive leadership team of Empower. It is expected that 20% of your time may be spent on other operational efforts, including assisting with event planning and we’re looking for a team player who is looking to make an immediate impact at a high-growth disruptive startup.

This is an in-person role based out of McLean, Virginia. Remote candidates in New York or Miami will also be considered.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Drive organic growth on social media accounts by creating, editing, posting, and engaging with content across all social media channels


• Produce, film, and edit dynamic short-form video content to be used as ads, including on-the-ground \"man-on-the-street\" interviews


• Create, edit, and produce graphics, memes, and video content


• Source, identify, and action online and offline strategic partnerships including with influencers


• Review social media channel analytics regularly to create actionable insights


• Build and grow online communities


• Assist with email and other non- social media marketing

Candidate Requirements

• 1-3 years experience in social media focused on content creation, engagement and growth or evidence of an ability to organically grow a social media following


• Strong copywriting skills


• Proficiency in video production and editing, with experience creating and optimizing short-form content.


• Ability to produce, edit, and publish content of various formats (video, image, and text)


• Strong understanding of social media analytics


• Highly organized with a bias for action


• Strong attention to detail
