Roots is seeking a part-time Social / Community Coordinator to own our digital front door—captions, scheduling, and DMs. You’ll be the warm, human voice people first encounter, ensuring every message feels like a welcome rather than a transaction.

You’ll manage replies, craft captions in Roots' warm voice across platforms, and own the content calendar. You’ll work with community volunteers and help convert online interactions into in-person participation at events.

About the Role

Roots is looking for a Social / Community Coordinator to own our digital front door: captions, scheduling, and the direct messages where people first reach out. This brings captions, scheduling, and DMs together as one owned role, so the whole of how Roots shows up, and responds, online is held by one person who cares.

For a lot of people, their first contact with Roots is not the room; it is a post, a comment, or a DM. This role makes sure that first contact carries the same warmth as walking through our doors. You are the digital Companion, the steward of the online experience, the one who makes sure a message never goes unanswered and a new person never feels like they are talking to a brand instead of a community.

The welcome does not stop at the door, and it does not stop at the screen. You handle replies, welcome, and follow-up, so the person who messaged us nervous about coming to their first event gets a warm, human answer, and actually shows up. This role is our steward of hospitality (karam), carried into every reply.

Success here isn't a follower count. It's whether a person who first met Roots through a screen felt genuinely welcomed, and whether that welcome brought them through the door.

What You'll Own

• The DMs. Warm, prompt replies, welcome, and follow-up that turn a first message into a first visit.
• Captions and voice. Writing that sounds like Roots — warm, human, and never corporate — kept consistent across every platform.
• The content calendar. Scheduling and planning, so our presence is intentional rather than reactive.
• The front-door team. Our community and DM volunteers, and what you hear back from the people reaching out.
