Job summary

OpenWhispr is seeking a face, voice and storyteller to lead our presence on TikTok and Instagram Reels. You will be the human core of the brand, shaping a personal narrative around the product and your day-to-day work.

You’ll shoot and edit short-form videos weekly, coordinating with the team to ensure authentic, engaging content that drives awareness and demand. This is a hands-on, in-person role based in San Francisco or Chicago.

Qualifications

• Grown a personal, creator-led or brand account with follower and engagement growth on TikTok or Reels.
• Comfortable and charismatic on camera with strong hook skills.
• Ability to edit videos to tell a story using CapCut, Premiere, or similar tools.

Be the face, voice and storyteller behind OpenWhispr, and build our brand story in public.

Hi, I'm Gabe, the founder of OpenWhispr.

OpenWhispr turns what you say into action. It's an open-source voice product, it's been downloaded about 150,000 times, and the people who use it care enough to tell us loudly when something breaks. We build in the open, and we give people a real choice about how their voice gets processed. That's a story worth telling, and right now nobody is telling it.

If you've spent any time on Instagram or TikTok this year, you've probably seen what Kinso has done: two founders building their company in public, with the arguments, the prototype reviews, the investor calls and the small daily wins all on camera, and a brand people actually root for. That's the kind of narrative I want us to build. Not ads. A story.

About the role

You'll be the face, voice and storyteller behind OpenWhispr on TikTok and Instagram Reels. You'll build our presence the way a brand team would, with strategy, consistency and real rigour about what performs, but framed around a personal story: your day-to-day here, the product being built around you, and your point of view on voice, AI and privacy.

The goal is a loyal, engaged following that drives awareness, affinity and, in the end, demand for OpenWhispr. You'll work directly with me and the team, shooting and editing short-form content every week.

What you'll do

• Build and grow OpenWhispr's presence on TikTok and Instagram Reels, positioned as a real person on the team, not a brand account.
• Develop an on-camera persona, voice and content universe that feels authentically you, with OpenWhispr woven in naturally.
• Tell the story of building the company: the product decisions, the launches, the bugs, the users, the office. Some of it scripted, most of it not.
• Shoot and edit new creative every week, used across organic and paid channels.
• Study what's working: hooks, like-to-view ratio, retention. Then make the next one better.

What we're looking for

• You've grown a personal, creator-led or brand account before, with follower and engagement growth on TikTok or Reels that you can show us.
• You're comfortable and charismatic on camera. You know which moments to spotlight, how to hook someone in the first three seconds, and how to leave them wanting the next post.
• You have taste. You can make a hook that pulls in a wide audience while keeping the brand elevated.
• You can edit. CapCut, Premiere, Final Cut, After Effects, whatever you use, you know how to tell a story through the cut.
• You're TikTok and Instagram native. You spend hours a day noticing trends, hooks, CTAs and brand style.

Nice to have

None of these are required, but they help.

• You already film your own life most days.
• You've made graphics, animations or illustrations.
• You're the friend who always has a story and loves to overshare.
• You've worked at an early-stage startup, or you know you want to.

The honest bits

This is in person in San Francisco or Chicago. Not remote. If you're not in one of those cities you'd need to move, and we can't sponsor visas.

We're a small team that moves fast. You'll be building this from zero, and a lot of what you make in the first month will be about finding out what works for us.

Comp and time off

$60K to $120K plus meaningful equity, depending on experience, and unlimited PTO. We'll make sure you actually take it.
