Job summary

Utah Soccer's Scout role focuses on identifying talent across MLS, MLS NEXT Pro and Academy pathways, delivering live and video evaluations and standardized reports to guide recruitment decisions.

You will cover domestic and international markets, build shortlists, and collaborate with the Sporting Director and analytics to provide timely recommendations, including evenings and weekends during peak scouting periods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Sports Science, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years scouting/coaching in elite football.
• Proficiency with scouting/video platforms and data interpretation.
• Ability to travel extensively including evenings/weekends.
• Strong reporting and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate players across MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, Academy, college, domestic and international markets.
• Conduct live and video scouting using Wyscout, Hudl, and StatsBomb.
• Produce standardized player reports with recommendations for follow-up, shortlisting, or signing.
• Build position-specific shortlists aligned to game model and transfer-window strategy.
• Collaborate with the Director of Soccer Analytics to integrate event, tracking, and video data into evaluations.
• Lead background work on targets with the Sporting Director.
• Present findings to the Sporting Director, coaches, and recruitment staff.
• Maintain the scouting database with assignments and reports.
• Attend matches, tournaments, training sessions, and trials, with extensive travel.
• Monitor transfer market for emerging talent and loan opportunities.
• Support trialists and potential signings through evaluation process.
• Promote knowledge sharing across MLS, MLS NEXT Pro, and Academy scouting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
