Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte in Matthews, NC is hiring part-time Referees to officiate youth and adult games, ensuring safety and fair play while modeling YMCA values. You will work evenings/weekends, wear proper attire, and support players in skill development.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 and ability to work flexible hours.
• Strong knowledge of at least one organized sport.
• Fair, calm, and composed in high-energy environments.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Officiate youth and/or adult games following YMCA rules.
• Promote and model YMCA core values in all interactions.
• Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled games.
• Maintain game control and manage participants, coaches, and spectators.
• Ensure safety by monitoring behavior and responding to incidents.
• Communicate rules and decisions clearly to players and coaches.
• Assist in setup and breakdown of equipment and layout.
• Document game results, infractions, injuries, or incidents.
• Provide encouragement and guidance to players for skill development.
• Participate in referee trainings and development opportunities.
