i9 Sports - Chesapeake/Suffolk/Portsmouth is seeking a dynamic Soccer Official & Sport Coordinator for youth soccer programs. This paid role ensures smooth game-day operations, enforces safety protocols, officiates matches, assists volunteer coaches, and fosters a positive environment for players of all ages.

The position emphasizes strong communication, a passion for sports, and safety. Multiple venues across Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach may be involved, with weekend game schedules

Qualifications

• Experience officiating sports, playing, and/or coaching.
• Excellent communication to explain rules and manage on-field conflicts.

• Ability to assess situations quickly to ensure player safety.

Responsibilities

• Officiate soccer matches by enforcing game rules and making accurate calls.
• Enforce i9 Sports rules books to ensure fun, learning, and safety.
• Teach and demonstrate core concepts including Sportsmanship values.
• Setup and breakdown of sport fields and equipment.
• Assist volunteer coaches during practice.
• Coach teams when no volunteer coach is available.
• Maintain a positive attitude and excellent customer service.
• Keep practices and games on schedule for the day.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Soccer Official & Sport Coordinator for our youth soccer programs. In this role, you will ensure a smooth operation on game days, enforce safety protocols, officiate games, assist volunteer coaches, and foster a positive environment for players of all ages. Your passion for sports, strong communication skills, and commitment to safety will help create an engaging and safe experience for participants, coaches, and spectators alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to promote healthy activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship within our community.

Duties

• Officiate soccer matches by enforcing game rules, making accurate calls on fouls, goals, and other game situations; manage an age-appropriate level of instruction and competition


• Understand & enforce the i9 Sports rules books ensuring fun, learning, and safety for all players


• Teach & demonstrate core concepts including Sportsmanship values


• Setup/breakdown of sport fields and equipment


• Assist volunteer coaches during practice


• Coach teams focusing on fundamental techniques, strategy, and sportsmanship in the absence of a volunteer coach


• Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude and superior customer service skills


• Keep practices and games on schedule for the day

Qualifications

• Sport-specific officiating, playing, and/or coaching experience


• Excellent communication skills to clearly explain rules and manage conflicts on the field


• Highly motivated self-starter; can work independently & solve problems


• Awareness & ability to take charge of any situation to ensure the safety of players


• Positive attitude and a strong ability to build professional relationships


• Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check


• Ability to work Saturdays and/or Sundays (for the full duration of the season, ~7 weeks)

Positions are available in Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. Ability to work at venues in all three cities is a big plus!!! Chesapeake and Virginia Beach programs are held on Saturday mornings until early afternoon. Suffolk programs are held on Sunday afternoons.
