i9 Sports is seeking a dynamic Flag Football Official & Sport Coordinator to ensure smooth game-day operations, enforce safety protocols, officiate games, and assist volunteer coaches across Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and community engagement in youth flag football programs.

This paid position requires strong communication, a passion for youth sports, and the ability to create a positive, fun, and fair environment for players of all ages.

Qualifications

• Experience officiating, playing, or coaching in youth sports.
• Excellent communication to explain rules and resolve conflicts.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and solve problems.
• Aware of safety requirements and able to manage field safety.
• Positive attitude with ability to build relationships with volunteers, players and families.

Responsibilities

• Officiate flag football games, enforce rules, call penalties and manage game flow.
• Enforce i9 Sports rules for fun, learning and safety.
• Teach and demonstrate core sportsmanship values.
• Setup and breakdown fields and equipment.
• Assist volunteer coaches during practice sessions.
• Coach teams in absence of a volunteer coach.
• Maintain a positive attitude and deliver strong customer service.
• Keep practices and games on schedule.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Flag Football Official & Sport Coordinator for our youth flag football programs. In this role, you will ensure a smooth operation on game days, enforce safety protocols, officiate games, assist volunteer coaches, and foster a positive environment for players of all ages. Your passion for sports, strong communication skills, and commitment to safety will help create an engaging and safe experience for participants, coaches, and spectators alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to promote healthy activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship within our community.

Duties

• Officiate flag football matches by enforcing game rules, making accurate calls on penalties, touchdowns, and other game situations; manage an age-appropriate level of instruction and competition
• Understand & enforce the i9 Sports rules books ensuring fun, learning, and safety for all players
• Teach & demonstrate core concepts including Sportsmanship values
• Setup/breakdown of sport fields and equipment
• Assist volunteer coaches during practice
• Coach teams focusing on fundamental techniques, strategy, and sportsmanship in the absence of a volunteer coach
• Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude and superior customer service skills
• Keep practices and games on schedule for the day

Qualifications

• Sport-specific officiating, playing, and/or coaching experience
• Excellent communication skills to clearly explain rules and manage conflicts on the field
• Highly motivated self-starter; can work independently & solve problems
• Awareness & ability to take charge of any situation to ensure the safety of players
• Positive attitude and a strong ability to build professional relationships
• Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check
• Ability to work Saturdays and/or Sundays (for the full duration of the season, :7 weeks)

Positions are available in Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. Ability to work at venues in all three cities is a big plus!!! Chesapeake and Virginia Beach programs are held on Saturday mornings until early afternoon. Suffolk programs are held on Sunday afternoons.
