Job summary

Green Key Resources seeks a Technical Accounting Senior Manager to join its growing accounting and financial reporting team in New York. You will evaluate complex transactions and document the accounting and reporting implications for leases, debt, contracts, derivatives, and business combinations.

You will help implement new accounting standards, model fair value measurements, develop policies, and present training to teams. CPA with 8+ years of experience, preferably Big 4, is required.

Qualifications

  • BS or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
  • 8+ years of accounting experience; Big 4 preferred.
  • Experience with US GAAP public company accounting.
  • Ability to assess complex transactions quickly.
  • Strong memo/written presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of ASC 842, ASC 606, ASC 470.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Workiva preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research and document US GAAP and SEC reporting impacts of new/ unusual transactions.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams for operational/technical implementations.
  • Review lease contracts and classify operating vs finance leases.
  • Assess debt agreements and modifications vs extinguishment.
  • Review tax provision packages for accuracy against GL and forecasts.
  • Interact with external auditors on technical accounting determinations.
  • Assist with implementing new accounting standards and policies.
  • Draft/update accounting policies and train teams.
  • Support capital raises and other significant transactions.

Job description

Seeking a Technical Accounting Senior Manager that will be a key member of the company’s growing accounting and financial reporting team. This individual will assist in the evaluation of complex transactions, including communicating and documenting the accounting and financial reporting implications of transactions, including leases, financing transactions, purchase and sales contracts, derivatives, impairment assessments, dispositions and business combinations. The role will also play a key role in the implementation of new accounting standards, the modeling of fair value measurements and the documentation of accounting policies. The Technical Accounting Manager will be a demonstrated self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment.

What you will do:
  • Research and document the US GAAP accounting and SEC reporting impact of new or unusual transactions in the form of white papers; work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting related to such topics
  • Partner with cross-functional teams as part of the operational and technical implementation of new agreements or transactions
  • Review lease contracts and document results of operating versus finance lease assessments
  • Assess new debt agreements and/or debt amendments and document results of modification versus extinguishment
  • Review the tax provision package, including agreeing actuals to GL, reviewing the forecasted PBTI for reasonableness, validating proper inclusion of significant transactions in the provision and validating mathematical accuracy of the provision
  • Direct interaction with external auditors, including key contact for technical accounting determinations and policy changes
  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and company policies as well as assessing the accounting impact and developing new workpapers and processes
  • Draft and review new accounting policies or update existing policies and assist with the development and presentation of internal training materials for functional teams within the company and foreign reporting entities
  • Support capital raises and other significant transactions
What you bring:
  • BS or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA required
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, preferably including experience with a Big 4 accounting firm or relevant industry technical accounting experience
  • Accounting advisory and/or US GAAP public company experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess the accounting and reporting implications of complex transactions
  • Demonstrated ability to research technical accounting matters and prepare well-written memorandums and presentations articulating these matters
  • Strong knowledge of lease accounting (ASC 842), revenue recognition (ASC 606) and debt accounting (ASC 470)
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Must bring a firsthand, action-oriented approach with the ability to prioritize and deliver timely results in a fast-moving environment with a wide variety of strategic initiatives
  • Driven, confident individual who is comfortable working independently while actively seeking guidance when necessary
  • Must possess strong experience using SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience using Workiva software is preferred
