Job summary

Boyne Mountain Resort seeks enthusiastic SnowSports Instructors to organize and conduct group and private ski and snowboard lessons for guests in an outdoor winter setting. You will create a safe, fun, and educational environment for learners of all ages, while promoting a love of the mountains.

The role requires physical stamina to ski up to 8 hours daily, plus weekend and holiday availability. A PSIA/AASI Level 1 is a plus, and prior teaching experience is welcomed.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age.
• Must be reliable, dependable, and timely.
• PSIA/AASI Certification Level 1 (or international equivalent) not required, but is a plus.
• Must have a genuine desire to pass on knowledge of the sport and inspire others to enjoy it.
• A great guest service personality.
• A growth mindset.
• Basic English language skills.
• Previous experience in teaching or education is a plus.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

The SnowSports Instructor's typical job functions include:

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to ski for up to 8 hours per day.
• Must be able to teach ski lessons in harsh winter weather (cold, snow, wind, rain, sleet, ice)

Work Environment:

• The instructor work environment is primarily outdoors in the winter weather. Temperature can vary greatly throughout the day and from day-to-day.
• Must be able to ski in snow, low visibility, powder, ice, hard pack, rain, sleet.

Position Type and expected hours of work:

• The ski instructor position is full-time, part-time, peak part-time, or temporary based on candidate availability.
• Typical work day is 8:30am – 4:30pm.
• Must be available for weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
• Must have availability during holiday periods (December 26th – 31st, January 18th – 20th, February 15th – 17th).
• Some instructional programs occur in the evening after 4:30pm but never after 9:00pm.
