Job summary

Sugar Bowl Resort in California is seeking a Snowmaker Supervisor to lead the Snowmaker I-III crew, directing safe and efficient snowmaking across alpine terrain. You will prioritize nightly needs with the Snow Surfaces Director and own advanced maintenance of guns and pumps.

The role requires 4+ years in snowmaking, supervisory experience, and a team-first, on-call mindset to operate in extreme winter conditions with long hours during peak windows.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of snowmaking experience
  • Experience with snowmaking equipment (SMI, Techno Alpin, HKD)
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience
  • Mentoring and developing operators
  • Deep knowledge of snowmaking systems, hydrants and pump stations
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment (snow cats, loaders)
  • Comfort with safety programs (IIPP)
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills
  • Team-first mindset and flexibility for on-call shifts

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, and coach Snowmaker I-III per shift
  • Lead safe, efficient snowmaking across alpine terrain
  • Set nightly priorities with Snow Surfaces Director based on weather
  • Own troubleshooting and maintenance of snow guns and pump stations
  • Maintain snowmaking fleet to protect uptime
  • Train and onboard new Snowmaker hires
  • Evaluate performance and provide coaching to operators
  • Enforce safety procedures and IIPP compliance
  • Document snowmaking activities for Risk Management
  • Coordinate with Grooming Supervisor on snow management
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas
  • Cross-train and support other departments as needed
  • Learn new skills across resort operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Snow Surfaces Director
