Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Snowflake Architect/DBT to design and optimize scalable data solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud. The role emphasizes data warehousing, ELT/ETL pipelines, and governance to translate requirements into robust analytics.

Responsibilities include modeling, pipeline design, RBAC, security, and performance tuning, with collaboration across data engineers and BI teams. Visa transfer not offered. Salary ranges from $90k to $160k depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Snowflake architecture and administration.
• Must have DBT experience and strong SQL skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Proficient in ELT/ETL tools and data modeling techniques.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines in data environments.

• Define and implement data models (dimensional & normalized) optimized for analytics and reporting.
• Build and optimize data ingestion and transformation pipelines using tools such as Snowpipe, dbt, Informatica, or similar.
• Lead Snowflake platform setup, including account structure, RBAC, security & governance.

Job description

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Architect/DBT to design, implement, and optimize scalable data solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud platform. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud data architecture, data warehousing, ELT/ETL pipelines, and performance tuning, along with strong business acumen to translate data requirements into robust solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end data solutions leveraging Snowflake, ensuring scalability, performance, and security
• Define and implement data models (dimensional & normalized) optimized for analytics and reporting
• Build and optimize data ingestion and transformation pipelines using tools such as Snowpipe, dbt, Informatica, or similar
• Lead Snowflake platform setup, including
• Account structure
• Role-based access control (RBAC)Security & governance
• Optimize query performance, cost management, and warehouse sizing within Snowflake
• Establish data governance, data quality, and metadata management frameworks
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and BI teams to deliver data-driven solutions
• Provide guidance and best practices on :
• Data architecture
• Data integration
• Data lifecycle management
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot data-related issues
• Stay updated with Snowflake features and recommend improvement

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skill

• Strong expertise in Snowflake Data Cloud architecture and administration
• Must have DBT
• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS / Azure / GC
• Proficiency in SQL and advanced query optimization technique
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Talend, dbt, Matillion, Azure Data Factory, etc.)
• Knowledge of data modeling techniques (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, Data Vault)
• Experience with data lakes and hybrid architectures
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data environments

Preferred Skills

• Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Advanced Architect)
• Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis)
• Knowledge of Python / PySpark / Scala
• Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

• Ability to lead architectural discussions and mentor teams

The annual salary for this position is between $ 90,000 - $ 160,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
