Job summary

Mt Southington Ski Area Inc. in Plantsville, CT is seeking a Snowboard Instructor to deliver engaging, professional lessons to guests of all ages and abilities. The role is seasonal and outdoors, focusing on safety, skill development, and a fun mountain experience.

You will lead group and private sessions, adapt to each learner, and help promote seasonal programs. Must be 16+, with advanced snowboard skills; training and certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Advanced snowboarding skills.

• Positive, energetic and patient attitude.
• Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not required - we will train you.
• AASI certification is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead group and private lessons for snowboarders of all ages and skill levels.
• Deliver lessons using approved teaching methods and progression models.
• Adapt instruction to meet individual guest needs and learning styles.
• Foster a fun, supportive, and confidence-building environment.
• Promote return visits, lesson packages, and seasonal programs.
• Assess terrain and weather conditions before and during lessons.
• Follow and enforce all mountain policies, procedures and responsibility codes.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist with lesson lineup, class organization and guest check-in.
• Support special programs, events, and seasonal camps.
• Assist with other duties including guest assistance, on-hill support, or other tasks.
• Complete required training and record hours accurately.

Position SummaryThe Snowboard Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, professional, and guest-focused ski instruction to guests of all ages and ability levels. Instructors create a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes skill development, confidence, responsible participation, and an enjoyable on-mountain experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead group and private lessons for snowboardersof all ages and skill levels
• Deliver lessons using approved teaching methods and progression models
• Adapt instruction to meet individual guest needs and learning styles
• Foster a fun, supportive, and confidence-building environment
• Promote return visits, lesson packages, and seasonal programs
• Assess terrain and weather conditions before and during lessons
• Follow and enforce all mountain policies, procedures and responsibility codes
• Prioritize the well-being of guests and fellow team members during all lesson activities Provide excellent customer service
• Assistwith lesson lineup, classorganizationand guest check-in
• Support special programs, events, and seasonal camps
• Assistwith other duties outside regular teaching responsibilities including, but not limited to, guestassistance, on-hill support, or other operational tasks
• Complete required training as assigned by mountain leadership
• Accurately record all hours worked, ensure time entries are complete, and promptly resolve any discrepancies prior to the end of each pay period
• Other duties as assigned by mountain leadership

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to snowboardfor extended periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including cold temperatures, snow wind, and limited visibility
• Ability to walk, stand and navigate snow-covered, icy, uneven, and changing terrain, surface and subsurface conditions
• Frequent bending, lifting, andassistingguests
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: $17/hour
