Job summary

Spirit Mountain is seeking a Snowboard Instructor for the winter season to share a passion for snowboarding and help guests learn in a fun, safe environment.

As an instructor you will teach groups and individuals, participate in clinics, greet guests, and adhere to safety standards while balancing peak-period needs.

Qualifications

• AASI certification at levels I, II, or III is required.
• Ability to instruct groups and individuals in snowboarding lessons.
• Commitment to safety and risk awareness during lessons.

Responsibilities

• Instruct groups and/or individuals in a fun lesson format.
• Teach proper snowboarding techniques appropriate to the ability level.
• Promote safety and give students knowledge to stay safe after lessons.
• Participate in clinics and free-riding to improve personal snowboarding skills.
• Attend AASI clinics and exams regularly.
• Participate in pre-season clinics.
• Greet guests and direct them to lesson locations.
• Complete instructor training as required.
• NOTE: perform alternate functions during peak periods.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

As a Snowboard Instructor, you are expected to be Punctual, Professional, Patient, and Positive. Instructors play a crucial role in the Spirit Mountain guest experience, so it is essential to be passionate about sharing your love for snowboarding and helping others enjoy the sport.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Instruct groups and/or individuals in a fun lesson format.
• Teach proper snowboarding techniques appropriate to the ability level of those being instructed.
• Promote safety and give students the knowledge to remain safe when they leave lessons to ride on their own.
• Participate in clinics and free-riding to constantly improve personal snowboarding skills.
• Attend AASI clinics and take appropriate exams on an ongoing basis.
• Participate in pre-season clinics.
• Greet guests and direct them to the proper lesson locations.
• Successfully complete instructor training.

NOTE: All Snowboard Instructors are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.

Requirements

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors) certification at levels I, II, or III.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to snowboard for prolonged periods (2+ hours) in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, as well as indoors.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment as required.
• Ability to manage physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, and twisting.
