Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is hiring a Temporary Transportation Generalist - Snow Plow Driver in Minnesota. This full-time, temporary position runs through April 20, 2027, with a Monday–Friday schedule and potential 12-hour shifts during snow events.

Incumbents must report within one hour of call-out and hold a valid CDL with tanker endorsement due within 30 days. Compensation ranges from $25.19 to $31.60 per hour ($52,596–$65,980 annually) plus standard state benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in snow and ice, road or related maintenance.
• CDL Class A or B with no air brake restriction.
• Tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire.
• English literacy to read/write/speak and communicate with the public.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Maintains documentation on snow and ice data for inventory/resource management.
• Performs traffic control setups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
