Job summary

Yard Smart is seeking Snow & Ice Team Members for the winter season across Avon, Avon Lake, Westlake and other Ohio communities. This first‑responder role involves snow removal, hand shoveling, and equipment operation to keep clients’ properties accessible.

Competitive pay starts at $21.00 per hour and can go up to $30.00, with on‑the‑job training, safety gear, and opportunities for career development; the position offers seasonal work with potential for full‑time hours during heavy snow periods.

Qualifications

  • General understanding of snow removal services or the ability to learn such skills
  • Knowledge of proper use of snow removal equipment such as shovels, ride-on sidewalk plow machines, power brooms, and snow blowers
  • Provide your cold-weather clothing including winter boots, coat, hat, and gloves
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance record
  • Availability to work variable hours which may include weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions—specifically very cold, icy, and snowy weather
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Reliable transportation to the branch or first job site at any hour of the day or night
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds constantly to move snow. With the ability to lift/push/pull 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Hand shoveling, snow blower operation, and hand salting
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site, while ensuring the current landscape and property are not damaged in the efforts to remove snow
  • Maintain and care for company-provided equipment, tools, and vehicles
  • Attend training classes and seminars as requested by management

Snow & Ice Team Members are responsible for providing emergency snow removal services for our clients by conducting ongoing snow and ice removal tasks during all hours of the day and night, in all outdoor weather conditions. This first-responder position is an essential service that impacts the local community by allowing businesses of all types (including hospitals, doctor's offices, grocery stores, and banks) to continue functioning normally. Being a snowfighter is very demanding and difficult, but also extremely rewarding!

This is excellent work for Roofers, Concrete Laborers, Construction Laborers, Power Washers, Landscapers, Window Washers, Asphalt Laborers, Pool, and other types of summer workers.

Work Schedule

We're flexible! Let us know the timeframe you are available, whether daily, weekly, or monthly, we can accommodate whenever it snows! Hours will vary based on the amount of snow we receive during the event. Snow events can range between 3 hours to 16 hours + in duration.

  • This position is seasonal and will last from approximately November 18, 2026 – April 30, 2027 depending on weather.
  • Potential for full-time, year-round employment for those interested.
  • It’s OK to have another job.
