Middlebury College in Vermont is hiring for a part-time, hourly position in the Snow Bowl dish room. The role is non-benefits eligible with a minimum starting rate of $17.45 per hour. You will help maintain cleanliness, wash dishes, and assist with light food prep as needed.

The job requires physical stamina, ability to lift 10–20 lbs, and adherence to sanitation guidelines. No prior experience is required and Middlebury College values diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• No previous experience is required.
• Requires practice of proper health sanitation and good math skills, i.e. ability to make change.
• Must physically be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day.
• Must be able to lift full glass racks and coffee racks above waist level.
• Requires frequent and repetitive bending, reaching, twisting and overhead reaching.
• Requires frequent walking and long periods of time standing.
• Must be able to work in a hot and humid environment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans serving area after each meal and restocks dispensers and other supplies.
• Busses and wipes tables.
• May assist with simple food preparation such as peeling vegetables or making sandwiches.
• Loads soiled dishes, glassware and silverware into the dish machine and unloads them after wash cycle.
• Reload chemicals as needed and follow sanitation guidelines.
• Unloads and stacks dishes and glassware in storage areas.
• Sorts silverware and utensils and stores properly.
• Maintains dish room equipment and reports malfunctions to Manager.

Middlebury College is searching for staff who are needed to perform a variety of functions in the dish room at the Snow Bowl.

The position maintains a clean and sanitary stock of dishes and utensils, washes and sanitizes all pots and utensils as necessary and stores items in appropriate areas. Assists with the overall cleanliness of the kitchen throughout the day.

Responsibilities include:

• Cleans serving area after each meal and restocks dispensers and other supplies.

• Loads soiled dishes, glassware and silverware into dish machine and unload them when they have finished the wash cycle.
• Reload chemicals as needed.
• Must follow sanitation guidelines.
• Unloads and stacks dishes and glassware in appropriate storage areas.
• Sorts silverware and utensils and places them in proper storage areas.
• Maintains dish room equipment and reports malfunctions to Manager.
• Washes all pots, pans and kitchen utensils and sanitizes all pots and utensils. Stores in appropriate areas.
• Sweeps and mops kitchen and dish room area.
• Rinses all trash cans and compost containers and ensures they are properly and safely stored.
