Job summary

Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) invites applications for an SMT Technician on the Second Shift at the Clarksburg, MD campus. You will set up and operate SMT equipment, read drawings, and ensure quality while following RoHS and IPC standards.

The role requires U.S. citizenship, 2–4 years of related experience, and strong English communication. Training on first shift is provided; after training a shift differential applies and there is a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with electronic assemblies and surface mount assemblies.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate SMT equipment including placement machine, screen printer, and oven.
• Perform off-line review from AOI inspections.
• Load/unload parts to tables and feeders.
• Operate CCA washer.
• Read and follow assembly drawings and MWIs.
• Follow RoHS requirements and IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 standards.
• Sign in on PIDs, perform ESD checks, and maintain clean work area.

We currently have openings for a SMT Technicianto join our team at our Clarksburg, MD campus, working on theSecond Shift (2:30 PM ET – 12:00 AM ET). This role reports directly to the SMT Manufacturing Manager.Second shift candidates must be able to train on first shift for 2-4 weeks from 6:00 AM ET - 3:30 PM ET.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate automated SMT equipment including placement machine, screen printer, and Oven.
• Perform off-line review from Automated Optical Inspection (AOI).
• Load and unload parts to tables and feeders.
• Operate CCA washer.
• Follow printed work instructions.
• Read and build assembly drawing along with MWI.
• Handle small precision tools, hardware, etc. Follow RoHS requirements.
• Properly sign in on correct PIDs, complete ESD testing, and follow all manufacturing guidelines and procedures.
• Maintain a neat appearance in their work area, reducing FOD when possible. Interpret IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards for acceptability and customer specifications.
• Keep team lead informed of any build issues.
• Shall be accountable for quality, quantity, and inspection of all work performed.

The hourly pay range for this role is$22.59 to $28.87 USDalong with a target incentive compensation plan (ICP) of3%. Once training is completed on 1st shift, employee is eligiblefor an additional $1.50 per hour shift differential once moved to 2nd shift. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the experience level for the role described above.
