Job summary

Rocket EMS, Inc. is seeking an SMT Setup Operator to prepare materials, feeders, and equipment for surface mount production.

You will ensure each SMT job is set up accurately and efficiently according to BOM, machine program, setup docs, and customer requirements. You will collaborate with SMT Operators, Material Handling, Quality, Engineering, and Production to support line changeovers, traceability, and reliable PCBA production, while following 5S and ESD/MSD controls.

Qualifications

• Previous SMT setup or feeder preparation experience preferred.
• Familiarity with SMT reels, feeders, trolleys, and job documentation a plus.
• Good ability to identify components, part numbers and reference designators.
• Basic computer and barcode-scanning skills required.
• Understanding of ESD, MSD, and material-control requirements preferred.
• IPC-A-610 familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review BOMs, setup sheets, and machine load lists before starting.
• Stage reels, feeders, and trolleys for scheduled jobs.
• Verify part numbers, quantities, and feeder locations against docs.
• Load feeders into machines and ensure correct program requirements.
• Maintain traceability by scanning and recording materials.
• Support changeovers to minimize downtime and improve line utilization.
• Inspect components and feeders for damage or contamination.
• Escalate material shortages or documentation discrepancies.
• Follow 5S, safety, and IPC standards on the line.
