Job summary

Rocket EMS is seeking an SMT Operator to set up, operate, and monitor production equipment, including screen printers, SPI, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens, to meet IPC-A-610 Class 2 and 3 standards.

You will review drawings and ECOs, perform first article checks, and address placement issues in a fast-paced electronics environment. Minimum 1–2 years SMT experience required; IPC-A-610 certification preferred. 8-hour shifts, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1–2 years SMT production experience in electronics assembly.
• IPC-A-610 certification preferred or role-dependent.

Responsibilities

• Review build documentation (MPIs, drawings, ECOs, BOMs, customer requirements) before starting work.
• Set up and operate SMT equipment including screen printers, SPI, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
• Verify feeder setups, component orientation, reference designators, and correct loadouts per BOM.
• Perform machine program loading, verification, and first-article checks as required.
• Monitor machine performance, address mis-picks, placement errors, and stoppages; escalate issues to Lead/Engineer/Supervisor.
• Conduct visual and AOI pre-verification to ensure solder paste and placements meet IPC-A-610 standards.
• Record production data, downtime events, and pass-down information accurately.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas following ESD/MSD handling procedures.
• Support other production areas as directed; participate in 5S and continuous improvement.
