Job summary

Flex is seeking a 3rd shift SMT Operator in Walker, MI to support our electronics assembly lines. You will set up SMT equipment, adjust speed and temperature, perform board cleaning, soldering and rework as trained, and ensure quality through IPC‑A‑610 compliant inspections.

Reporting to Production Manager, you’ll work Sun–Thu from 11pm to 7am, train coworkers, maintain accurate job tracking, and keep a neat workspace while complying with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required; electronics experience preferred.
• Familiar with SMT components and assembly process.
• Able to set up and operate SMT equipment (Screen Printer, Glue Dispenser, Pick and Place, Reflow Oven).
• Can perform basic soldering and SMT rework after training.
• Maintain accurate job tracking records; perform visual inspections.

Responsibilities

• Set up SMT equipment and adjust speed and temperature for varying products.
• Clean boards and perform basic soldering/rework as trained.
• Inspect SMT assemblies to IPC‑A‑610 standards and document results.
• Train co-workers and assist with problem resolution.
• Maintain a neat and safe work area and accurate production logs.

Job summary:

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a 3rd shift SMT Operator located in Walker, MI. Reporting to the Production Manager the 3rd Shift SMT Operator (Sun-Thurs 11pm- 7am) role involves being responsible for the set-up of SMT components. Adjusts the speed and temperature and makes other adjustments to accommodate varying types and sizes of products.

The experience and responsibilities we’re looking to add to our team:

• Must be familiar with Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) electronic components and SMT assembly process.
• Must be able to set-up and operate automated SMT assembly equipment including Screen Printer, Glue Dispensing Machine, Pick and Place Machine, and Reflow Oven.
• Must be able to properly clean boards.
• Able to perform basic soldering and rework of SMT components. Must successfully complete solder training course (Flex provided).
• Picks components and prepares kits for manufacturing.
• Able to perform visual inspections of SMT assemblies.
• Able to maintain accurate job tracking records.
• Able to interpret IPC-A-610 standards for acceptability and customer specifications.
• Must be familiar with and able to use hand tools, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, etc.
• Shall maintain a neat appearance about self and work area.
• Shall be accountable for quality, quantity and inspection of work performed.
• Shall practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Train co-workers and assist when problems arise.

Education/Experience:

• High School or GED degree. Prior electronics experience preferred.
