Job summary

ACDi, a manufacturing firm in Maryland, seeks an SMT Operator to set up, maintain, and operate automated SMT equipment and manual placement methods. You will work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and the SMT team on NPI and production runs to meet quality and delivery goals.

The role requires 3+ years of SMT experience, IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 training, and strong attention to detail. You will be part of a fast-paced indoor manufacturing environment with corresponding physical demands.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on SMT assembly experience.
  • Experience with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
  • Familiar with SMT components, feeders, and tape-and-reel configurations.
  • Ability to read and interpret verbal and written work instructions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, maintenance, and operation of SMT equipment (MyData).
  • Perform setup and changeovers on MyData pick and place machines.
  • Monitor, replenish, and manage components across multiple machines.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve processes with real-time data.
  • Conduct in-process visual inspections and initiate first article inspections for SMT assemblies.

This will be achieved using both automated equipment and manual placement methodologies, all while achieving goals for quality, efficiency, and productivity. This role will act as an integral team member to manufacturing engineering, quality and the extended SMT team on all new product introductions (NPI) and production runs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.Setup, maintenance, and operation of automated Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly equipment which includes but is not limited to the following processes: screen printing, 3D solder paste inspection, pick, and place, reflow oven, x-ray, and automated optical inspection (AOI)Perform setup and changeover duties as required of MyData pick and place machinesOperate, monitor, and replenish electronic components onto feeders across multiple MyData pick and place machinesWork collaboratively with the Manufacturing Engineering department to provide real time data to improve processes and determine the root cause of any issuesPerform in-process visual inspections and initiate first article processes for all electronic assemblies at the SMTAct as back up to other SMT Operators, Material Handlers and AOI operators in running the automated equipment within the SMT groupSPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
