Job summary

Rocket EMS, Inc. is seeking an SMT Operator to build high-reliability PCB assemblies by setting up, operating, and monitoring SMT production equipment.

You will run screen printers, SPI, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens to meet IPC‑A‑610 Class 2 and 3 workmanship standards in a fast-paced electronics environment. Responsibilities include reviewing documentation, configuring equipment, loading programs, monitoring performance, and performing basic maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years SMT production experience preferred.
• IPC‑A‑610 certification preferred or required depending on role level.
• Ability to read assembly drawings, MPIs, ECOs and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Review build documentation (MPIs, drawings, ECOs, BOMs, customer requirements) before starting work.
• Set up and operate SMT equipment including screen printers, SPI, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
• Verify feeder setups, orientation, reference designators, and loadouts per BOM.
• Load programs, perform verification, and conduct first-article checks as needed.
• Monitor machine performance, address mis-picks and stoppages, escalate issues as needed.
• Perform visual and AOI pre-verification to ensure IPC‑A‑610 compliance.
