Job summary

The Diocese of Charlotte seeks a Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator to work under the Director of Hispanic Ministry, supporting Hispanic parishes and communities across the vicariate.

You will coordinate formation, outreach, and liturgical training while collaborating with pastors and volunteers to strengthen Catholic faith in a multicultural setting.

Qualifications

• Formation/Certification in Hispanic Pastoral Leadership (S.E.P.I., Notre Dame, Catholic University).
• Minimum 2-4 years in Hispanic Ministry at parish level; 2+ years at diocesan level (optional).
• Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
• Pastoral experience working with multiple cultures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accompany the Hispanic Faithful in their journey of Faith; serve as a resource for parish pastors.
• Maintain close communication with parish pastors; provide formation resources for catechists and ministry leaders.
• Offer preparation for liturgical ministries and workshops (Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, ushers).
• Provide training in family crisis support and related pastoral programs (Duelo, Acompañantes Matrimoniales).
• Plan and guide days of reflection and retreats; assist pastors in outreach to Hispanic populations.
• Maintain financial records for Vicariate programs and present budget for review; support Safe Environment initiatives.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator, under the leadership of the Diocesan Director of Hispanic Ministry, belongs to a Team that shares the mission to oversee and support all areas of Hispanic ministry within the Diocese of Charlotte, while assisting the Pastors and parish communities in developing, coordinating, and administering an effective ministry for the Catholic Hispanic community. The Coordinator is tasked with fostering a greater understanding of the needs of a multi-cultural faith community; and providing leadership formation to members at the local level involved in this ministry with the goal of maintaining and fortifying the Catholic faith. The Hispanic Ministry Coordinator aids the Pastors of the Vicariate in the implementation of the USCCB’s National Hispanic Pastoral Plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The primary responsibility of the Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator is to accompany the Hispanic Faithful in their journey of Faith. The Coordinator serves as a resource for the Pastors of the parishes within the vicariate.
• The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator is expected to be in close communication and dialogue with the Pastors in the parishes. They are professional Pastoral Agents prepared to offer all the diocesan resources available for Formation and Continuing Education to the parish Hispanic catechists, such as Baptism preparation, Pre-Cana, Faith Formation for children and youth, Parish leadership, OCIA, Leaders of Apostolic groups, and Youth Ministry.
• The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator is available to offer preparation for liturgical ministries, workshops for Lectors, Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, ushers, etc.
• The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator is prepared to offer training in Family crisis support, ranging from difficulties such as homebound persons, terminal illness situations, grief support ministry (Pastoral de Duelo), matrimony problems support (Acompañantes Matrimoniales), and other culturally specific needs.
• The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator is available to prepare and guide days of reflection and retreats.
• The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator is available to assist the Pastor in reaching out to the Hispanic population that cannot participate in weekly Mass and parish life with the objective of fortifying the Catholic faith.
• The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the financial records for the Vicariate Hispanic Ministry programs and projects. The Vicariate Coordinator presents their budget to the Vicar Forane for review.
• The Vicariate Hispanic Ministry Coordinator helps with the Safe Environment program.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works as an integral member of a Team under the Vision and Direction of the Director of Hispanic Ministry.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English.
• Must possess basic computer knowledge, including the MS Office suite.
• Strong listening, empathy, and organizational skills.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills and familiarity with social media.
