Job summary

The H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a dependable Small Tools Mechanic to service and repair a range of small gas, diesel, and electric powered hand tools at the Skippack site. The ideal candidate will show strong technical and customer-service skills while adhering to safety policies.

Responsibilities include performing scheduled servicing, recording meter readings, and maintaining tools in good condition. The role requires physical capability and willingness to train on new tools and safety

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED or 2 years related experience and/or training.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills needed.
• Proficiency with computers and ability to learn various software programs.
• Experience using mechanics hand and power tools.
• Must be able to fit test and use appropriate PPE.
• Must meet physical requirements for job duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform service and maintenance of small gas, diesel, and electric powered hand tools.
• Keep hour meter readings for power equipment at location.
• Complete and record all scheduled servicing.
• Maintain tools in good working order.
• Report issues to small tools superintendent after inspections.
• Notify supervisor of complications that could render equipment inoperable.
• Overhaul small gas and diesel engines.
• Maintain cleanliness of work site and tools.
• Train on use and maintenance of new tools.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform all work adhering to OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Keep records of hour meter readings for power equipment at assigned location
• Complete and record all scheduled required servicing
• Maintain all tools in good working order
• Report to small tools superintendent on each visual inspection of problems that would require replacement or major repair
• Notify supervisor of any complications when servicing that would make equipment inoperable
• Overhaul small gas and diesel engines
• Keep a check and balance on parts and tools
• Maintain cleanliness of work site and tools
• Report all oil spills to supervisor
• Train on use and maintenance of new tools
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR 2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Valid driver’s license
• Clean driving record
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Computer skills able to learn and use different software’s
• Ability to use mechanics hand and power tools
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in small tools mechanics or work experience.
• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications

  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Fumes or airborne particles
• Travel up to 2 hours
• Required to work outdoors in all environments at times
• Hours regularly exceed 40/week and 8/day overtime when needed
