Summary/Objective:

This position is primarily responsible for the fabrication ofsub-assembliesused in chassis. This individual will be measuring,plasmacutting, and welding systems to producesub-assemblies.Asmall partscell welder will be reporting to the team leader to ensure daily goals are being met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Combination of specified designs and measurements, appropriate component parts,plasmacutting,assemble brackets on the landing gears,and welding systems to producesub-assemblies.
  2. Rotation of position into production welding as necessaryin or outside of small parts department.
  3. Make sure that scrap metal is not put in the same bin as your regular trash. Trash needs to be separated for it to be picked up.
  4. Parts should not be on the floor for any reason. Racks & shelves must be used to keep parts off the floor.

  2. Maintain parts areaorganizedand cleanas well as being responsible for labeling extra parts as needed.
  3. Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  4. Maintenance of good housekeeping practices throughout thesub-assemblyarea.

Working Conditions:

  • Theteam memberwill work around moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and conveyer roller lines.
  • Theteam membermaywork in outside weather conditions in all seasons. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Theteam membermay be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, noise, heat, cold, and wet work while performing job duties.

Qualifications:

  1. High school degree or GED.
  2. Welding competency & knowledge of welding systems to be demonstrated.
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  5. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Competencies:

  1. Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company’s overall demand.
  2. Must be able to meet production goals and time deadlines.
  3. Basic computer skills needed topost-productiontags onto the system.
  4. Must demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills (English).
  5. Must be able to read and process written communication including, but not limited to measurements, frame prints, directions, instructions, etc.
  6. Must demonstrate welding competency and knowledge of welding systems.
  7. Must be able to operate appropriate equipment including MIG welders, band saws, plasma cutters, tape measures,handheld drills,etc.
  8. Must possess successful problem-solving skills.
  9. Must be able to exhibit tact and diplomacy and maintain professional relationships with supervisors, fellowteam members, customers, etc.
  10. Must be able to work under physically and mentally stressful situations.
  11. Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes through the day.
  12. Must be able to operate alifttruck as necessary.
  13. Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes throughoutthe day.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands:
While performing duties of the job, theteam memberis regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active – while performing this job theteam memberis regularly standing,walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, handling, and climbing all day. Theteam membermay have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specificvision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This position requirespersonalprotectiveequipment such as work gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, cut resistant sleeves, and seasonal gear which will be provided(contingent on position).

Additional items required but not included are steel toed shoes or boots with metatarsal guards.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours of work and days are based upon the need to support operations and production. Some Saturdays will be mandatory.

Travel:

No travel is required for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Ability to read and understand basic blueprints
  2. Lift Truck Operators License preferred (training available)
