How You Will Make an Impact

#PIQ

A Welder/Weld Trainee provides welding support as part of a team working on either standard and/or special assembled service bodies, as well as small parts.

The Nuts and Bolts

1. Weld together structural (aluminum and galvanized steel) metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
2. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain the required configuration and positions for welding.
3. Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
4. Complete inline quality inspections of work and maintain weld quality according to established quality guidelines.
5. Complete welding station tasks in accordance with established takt time (if applicable).
6. Cross-train on multiple welding workstations and perform required tasks at multiple stations when needed to fill staffing gaps.
7. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools, including welding equipment.

Required Credentials

1. Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
2. Ability to pass tape measure testing.
3. Ability to read blueprints (if applicable to the line).
