Job summary

Planet Fitness Franchising, LLC in Sumter, SC is hiring a Fitness Trainer to run the PE@PF program, design simple workouts, and teach proper equipment use. Certification and CPR are required to join our team as we help members achieve their fitness goals in a supportive environment.

You will also perform front-desk duties, greet members, log memberships, and maintain a clean, welcoming club atmosphere with a focus on customer service and member retention.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–12 months of customer service experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Nationally certified training certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Run PE@PF programs for participants (3–8 per session) and schedule classes.
• Instruct members on proper and safe equipment use and discuss fitness goals.
• Create bi-weekly updates with varied exercises for members.
• Greet members, answer calls, sign up new members, and manage front-desk duties.
• Maintain clean facilities and assist with organization and stocking.
• Provide excellent customer service and escalate issues to management when needed.

We are searching for a Fitness Trainer (Certified Training Certificate REQUIRED) to join our team! As a member of our team, you will be responsible for running the Planet Fitness group fitness program (PE@PF). This includes assisting new members in the achievement of their fitness goals by designing a simple workout program and instructing them on the proper use of equipment.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

Planet Fitness PE@PF program

• Run PE@PF programs for participants (3-8 people per session) and creating schedules for members.
• Consult with members regarding their fitness goals and instruct them on how to properly and safely use the equipment.
• Create bi-weekly updates consisting of a variety of exercises.
• Meet class requirements based on club size and member traffic.

Customer Service/Front Desk Activities

• Greet members and guests, providing exceptional customer service and do your best to make members feel comfortable and welcomed!
• Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions.
• Check members in, tour and sign up new members, log amenities and communicate updates and events to members and guests.
• Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct beverage or merchandise purchases on the point of sale system.
• Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner and elevate to Assistant Manager or Manager as needed.
• Utilize POS system to assist with new membership cards, change of address and billing or payment questions.

Club Cleanliness and Maintenance

• Go above and beyond to keep the facility clean and orderly.
• Regular facility cleaning and upkeep such as mopping up spills under equipment, trash removal, cleaning windows and mirrors, and re-racking weights.
• Regular cleaning of all exercise equipment and tanning beds.
• Regular restroom and wet area cleaning and stocking.

Qualifications/Requirements

• A passion for fitness and health!
• Upbeat and positive attitude.
• 6-12 months of Customer Service experience is preferred.
• High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
• Current CPR Certification required.
• Nationally Certified Training Certificate required.
• Ability to pass background screening required.
• Basic computer proficiency with an eye for accuracy.
• Punctuality and reliability is a must.
• Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member's expectations.
• Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve.
• Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.

Physical Demands

• Continual standing and walking during shift.
• Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
• Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift.
