Job summary

Smith Turf & Irrigation is seeking a service repair technician to maintain and repair small engine equipment for golf, groundskeeping, and landscaping clients. Duties include diagnosing issues, performing maintenance, and ordering parts in collaboration with the service writer.

We value strong diagnostic skills, the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and high school education. Certifications from STIHL, Toro, Exmark, Kohler or Briggs & Stratton are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience working on gasoline and diesel small engines.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; ability to read manuals.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engine equipment such as Toro, Ventrac, Exmark, Scag, and Stihl.
• Perform scheduled maintenance including oil changes and fluid/filter changes in various equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment lines and ensure cleanliness of finished products.
• Collaborate with Service Writer to order parts as needed.
• Keep accurate records for repairs, work orders, inventory and warranty parts.
• Maintain tools, workspace, and adhere to safety regulations.

Position Overview:

Service repair technicians are responsible for the care and maintenance of small engine law care equipment. They play a critical role in upholding our reputation for exceeding our customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and repairing small engine equipment such as Toro, Ventrac, Exmark, Scag, and Stihl
• Perform scheduled maintenance, including oil change, hydraulic fluid and all necessary filters and fluids in a variety of agricultural equipment
• Maintain technical and product knowledge on various equipment lines
• Responsible for the cleanliness of finished products
• Works with the Service Writer to order parts as needed
• Responsible for maintaining accurate records for repairs, service work orders, inventory and tagging and identifying parts for warranty
• Responsible for maintaining personal tools, work area, shop and shop tools
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized service area, following all safety regulations

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working on gasoline and diesel small engines
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must have the ability to read and analyze documents and procedure manual
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Must be able to routinely lift up to 75 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:
