Description
The Small Business Services Coordinator supports NDC's mission by coordinating technical assistance services, managing small business support projects, and helping entrepreneurs access the resources they need to grow their businesses. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients throughout their engagement, coordinating consultants, tracking project progress, supporting program delivery, and ensuring a positive client experience. While a strong understanding of small business operations is important, technical expertise is provided through NDC's network of specialized consultants and advisors.
Key Responsibilities
Client and Program Coordination
- Serve as a primary point of contact for small business clients throughout their engagement with NDC.
- Conduct initial client intake meetings to understand client goals, challenges, and service needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate connections between clients and NDC's network of technical assistance consultants and advisors.
- Monitor client progress and ensure timely completion of services and project deliverables.
- Maintain accurate client records, project updates, and outcomes in organizational databases and reporting systems.
- Assist clients in navigating NDC programs, resources, and educational opportunities.
Consultant and Project Coordination
- Coordinate a pool of external consultants and technical assistance providers.
- Coordinate consultant assignments based on client needs and project scope.
- Support the development and management of consultant contracts, scopes of work, timelines, and deliverables.
- Track project milestones and ensure services are delivered on time and within scope.
- Review consultant invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and contract compliance.
- Facilitate communication between clients, consultants, and internal team members to address challenges and maintain project momentum.
Program Implementation and Administration
- Coordinate cohort-based learning opportunities, workshops, and technical assistance programs.
- Support program planning, implementation, scheduling, and logistics.
- Track program performance metrics and support reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of technical assistance programs and service delivery models.
- Collaborate with Business Lab team members on departmental goals, work plans, and special projects.
zTeam and Community Engagement
- Participate in Business Lab service review meetings and consultant selection discussions.
- Represent NDC at community events, partner meetings, and small business engagement activities.
- Assist the Director of Business Services with departmental initiatives and strategic projects.
- Support organizational strategic priorities and cross-functional collaborations.

Requirements
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of experience in project coordination, program management, customer success, nonprofit operations, business services, workforce development, community engagement, or related fields.
- Experience managing multiple projects, tasks, or stakeholders simultaneously.
- Experience working with diverse communities and building professional relationships.
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills:
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and facilitate collaborative problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and project management software such as Salesforce, Wrike, Asana, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
- Basic understanding of small business operations and entrepreneurship.
- Ability to learn business concepts and effectively connect clients with subject matter experts.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with the Twin Cities small business ecosystem.
- Experience working in nonprofit, economic development, education, workforce development, or community-based organizations.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, Somali, Hmong, or another language commonly spoken by NDC’s clients, are a plus.
- Project management training, certificate, or coursework (preferred but not required).
