Job summary

MetLife is seeking a Small Business Analyst/Specialist to partner with the sales team and drive growth in U100 markets. You will analyze small business metrics, generate actionable insights, and support SBS/U100 initiatives for brokers, GAs, and SMBs.

The role reports to the Region Director and is located in the Philadelphia area or NYC, supporting cross-functional teams to optimize processes and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 1–5+ years in business, sales, analytics, or related fields or Sales Academy Graduate.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of business processes and financial principles relevant to brokers, GA, and SMBs.
  • Must obtain Life and Accident & Health state licenses within the first 3 months of employment.

The Role

The Small Business Analyst/Specialist partners with the assigned sales team to drive growth in the Under 100 markets, supporting Small Business Solutions (SBS) and broader U100 initiatives. This role serves as a U100 market specialist, enhancing small business operations through comprehensive analysis, strategic support, and the implementation of advanced solutions tailored to brokers, GAs, and SMBs.


This position reports to the Region Director and works closely with Account Executives in the U100 segment.


The role is located in the Philadelphia PA or NYC area.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Support & Execution


  • Assist the sales team in developing expertise in U100 and SBS platforms.

  • Conduct training to increase knowledge of MetLife’s U100 and SBS offerings.

  • Advise sales partners on value‑added strategies that optimize U100 business with intermediaries and customers.

  • Support growth efforts to increase revenue from in‑force customers and renewals.


Data, Reporting & Insights


  • Conduct detailed analyses on small business metrics to identify trends and provide actionable insights.

  • Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations that highlight broker, GA, and SMB client performance and needs.

  • Communicate findings clearly to key stakeholders and leadership.


Operational Excellence


  • Assess SBS/U100 workflows and recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy.

  • Correct errors related to failed process rules, data requirements, or file layouts in partnership with internal and external teams.

  • Lead or support key projects that enhance SBS/U100 capabilities.

  • Leverage advanced tools and technology to streamline processes and improve precision.

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams including AE, underwriting, and operations to align analysis and strategy with U100 goals.

  • Prepare for sales opportunities through contract evaluation, financial analysis, and competitive positioning.

  • Support renewal cycles through data gathering, plan change evaluation, bundling recommendations, and offer positioning.

  • Execute required productivity tasks and contribute to continuous professional growth.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.


What You Need To Succeed (Required Experience)


  • 1-5+ years in business, sales, analytics, or related fields or Sales Academy Graduate

  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office

  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Understanding of business processes and financial principles relevant to brokers, General Agents, and Small Businesses.

  • Must obtain the required Life and Accident & Health state licenses within the first 3 months of employment.


What Can Give You An Edge (Preferred Experience)


  • BA/BS degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Marketing, or related field.

  • Experience using Copilot to identify sales opportunities.

  • Insurance industry experience highly preferred

The expected salary range for this position is $55,000. This role may also be eligible for incentive compensation under the sales plan for the position. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
