Job summary

University of California, Davis is seeking a Small Animal Emergency Service Veterinary Triage Technician to support emergency care for cats and dogs in a 24/7 hospital setting. You will triage, assist clinicians, and support students and clients in a busy teaching hospital environment.

The role emphasizes patient care, triage, and instruction, with a 40% effort allocation to patient care and a 50% allocation to triage and case management. This on-site position is based in Davis, CA.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) or obtain within 3 months of date of hire.
• Experience providing nursing care to small animal emergency patients.
• Experience working in a small animal clinic as a veterinary technician or as a veterinary assistant.
• Experience giving medications.
• Experience using patient monitoring equipment.
• Experience drawing blood samples.
• Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact with a diverse group of students, staff, clinicians and clients and the skill to recognize and manage difficult situations.
