Job summary

SLB is seeking a seasoned engineer in Houston to lead design and development of Well Access products. You will work on complex equipment, analyze performance, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Expect collaboration with project teams, mentoring junior staff, and creating technical materials for clients. You will apply FEM and CAD tools to validate designs, participate in risk assessments, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degrees in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 4–6 years of experience in product design and development.
  • Experience with FEM and CAD tools.
  • Experience with well intervention equipment is a plus.
  • Experience in subsea, oil & gas or pressure vessels is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop and/or sustain assets/products/kits focusing on intervention equipment without supervision.
  • Assist in field implementation of equipment with the project team.
  • Prepare system engineering documents and perform risk evaluations (eg, FMECA).
  • Provide operational support to resolve engineering issues.
  • Define the engineering work scope for projects/products.
  • Create templates, procedures, design guidelines, and standard work instructions to improve efficiency.
  • Conduct structural analysis and finite element calculations to draw engineering conclusions.
  • Lead technical projects and supervise technicians, designers, and junior engineers.
  • Follow standards such as ISO 13628-7, ISO 13625-5, API 6A, API 17G and API 5CT.
  • Generate verification and validation, factory acceptance, and system integration test procedures.
  • Interface with manufacturing shops to communicate design requirements and resolve non-conformances.
  • Provide progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Author/co-author engineering reports, papers, articles, patents, and presentations.
  • Mentor engineers and interns on technical products and processes.
  • Create training material and train field representatives and external clients.

  • Conduct engineering activities for Well Access products
  • Deliver within the allocated budget and timelines for the engineering tasks
  • Provide technical guidance to generate innovative and cost-effective solutions to develop or sustain Well Access Products, systems, or procedures
  • Provide technical inputs to resolve issues or mitigate risks for Well Access products used in operations
  • Identify technology development opportunities to improve efficiency and/or enable safer operations
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and engineering processes
  • Mentor junior engineers, interns and training material for internal and external clients
Engineer Duties
  • Conduct engineering activities for Well Access products

General Roles And Responsibilities
  • Analyze, design, develop and/or sustain assets/products/kits with a focus on intervention equipment without supervision
  • Assist in the field implementation of equipment in agreement with project team
  • Generate system engineering documents such as Process and instrumentation drawings and conduct risk evaluation (eg. Failure Mode Effect and Critically Analysis, FMECA)
  • Provide operational support to resolve engineering issues
  • Define the engineering work scope for projects/products
  • Actively participate in creation of templates, engineering procedures, design guidelines, and standard work instructions to improve operational efficiency
  • Conduct structural analysis, analytical calculations, and computational models to draw engineering conclusions, eg. elasto-plastic finite element analysis
  • Undertake technical projects to lead projects directing, assigning, and reviewing work of technicians, designers, and junior engineers
  • Conduct and contribute to standard such as ISO 13628-7, ISO 13625-5, API 6A, API 17G and API 5CT
  • Generate verification and validation, factory acceptance, and system integration test procedures
  • Interface with internal and external manufacturing shops to communicate design requirements and resolve manufacturing non conformances
  • Provide updates on the engineering progress for products and projects to internal and external stakeholders
  • Author/co-author engineering reports, papers, articles, patents, and presentations
  • Mentor engineers, interns on technical products and processes
  • Create training material and train field representatives and external clients
  • Bachelor, Masters , & PHD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or similar
  • 4-6 years' experience with emphasis in product design/development
  • Prior experience working with analytical and computational packages (eg. Finite Element Analysis package, CAD packages)
  • Experience in well intervention equipment and/or operations is a plus
  • Subsea, Oil & Gas, Pressure vessels.
