Job summary

Formlabs, a leader in accessible 3D printing, seeks a materials researcher to advance SLS materials from concept to commercialization. You will design and run experiments, analyze data, and iterate formulations in close collaboration with product, hardware, and software teams.

You will apply thermo-plastic expertise, develop robust testing protocols, and document findings to drive next-generation material performance across our printers and applications.

Qualifications

• Experience bringing a new material to market from ideation to production.
• Solid understanding of materials science and polymer product development.
• Hands-on thermo-plastic engineering experience.
• Passionate about testing and troubleshooting, not afraid to test hundreds of times.
• Love to harness data and design rigorous experiments to optimize materials.
• Able to work autonomously and take initiative to learn new skills.
• Value good documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build world-class SLS materials for 3D printing from lab explorations to validation and commercialization.
• Lead research that pushes material performance to next-gen solutions.
• Collaborate with product, hardware, and software teams to iterate material formulations based on customer feedback.
• Develop methodologies to evaluate material formulations with SLS print systems balancing chemistry, thermal dynamics, and printing parameters.
