Job summary

United Natural Foods, Inc. is seeking an Inventory Control team member in our Urbana distribution centers. You will analyze inventory reports, re-slot items, and coordinate changes in product descriptions and pack sizes to ensure accurate stock and timely replenishment.

Responsibilities include researching adjustments, conducting cycle counts, and verifying stock integrity while adhering to HACCP/SQF policies. On-site role with early morning shift support growth and development.

Qualifications

  • Experience in warehousing operations and inventory tracking.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and report financial data.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with PC software for reports and audits (Outlook/Word/Excel).
  • Familiarity with safety guidelines and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze inventory control reports to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Re-slot products to meet velocity and warehouse requests.
  • Coordinate and process new items and changes in pack size and descriptions.
  • Research inventory adjustments and maintain high service levels (low stockouts).
  • Initiate date checks and periodic cycle counts.
  • Investigate mis-slots and verify pick slots and back stock.
  • Comply with HACCP and SQF policies as applicable to location.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

What does it mean to be a part of the Inventory Control team?

Our Inventory teamis responsible fortracking all inventory within our distribution centers.This includesmaintainingaccuraterecords and researching any discrepancieswith the product.It is imperative to understand the layout of the warehouse to ensurethe properlocation ofthe product.Researching any damages/adjustments of product, trackingexpirationdates,andalert management of any potential safety concerns that may arise. Within this department, you will ensure proper handling of damaged and/or spoiled merchandise, pulling and processing salvaged product, review and analyze inventory reports toidentifytrends, and work directly withvarious departmentsand local operations leadership to provide recommendations.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:00am - 12:30pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for analyzing inventory control reports including but not limited to capacity reports, category, top 30, abnormal item and reporting to identify trends and provide recommendations on inventory opportunities
  • Re-slot product accommodating velocity and warehouse requests as needed
  • Coordinates and processes new items and changes in pack size, product description and discontinued product
  • Research inventory adjustments and maintain high service levels (low out of stocks)
  • Initiates date checks and periodic cycle counts
  • Research mis-slots and quality issues, verifies pick slots and back stock verification
  • Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location
  • Performs other relevant job duties as required
Job Requirements
  • Working knowledge and experience, preferably in both mechanized and conventional warehousing, in picking and storage operations in dry grocery and perishable areas
  • Experience as a selector or lift operator (strongly preferred)
  • Understanding of safety guidelines
  • Understanding of paperwork and reporting methods related to tracking inventory
  • Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and report financial data
  • Ability to problem solve and collaborate to seek resolution
  • Proficiency in PC software tools for reports, analysis, and audits
  • MS Outlook, Word and Excel experience required
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available
Physical Environment
  • Ability to lift between 40-60 pounds daily and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
  • Ability to operate work related equipment
