Job summary

Vorteq Coil Finishers, LLC is seeking a Slitting Line Operator to run slitter equipment per finished product specs and quality standards. You will also label and tag slit material, ensuring overall product quality and accurate production reporting.

Training is 7am–3pm, Monday to Friday; after training shifts transition to 3pm–11pm or 11pm–7am. Full-time, on-site with premium pay for weekends.

Qualifications

  • Reading and writing proficiency required.
  • Basic math and calculator use required.
  • Data entry skills for labeling and tagging.
  • Attention to product quality and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate slitter equipment to meet specs and reduce waste.
  • Place and transport coils using material handling equipment.
  • Meet changeover and production schedules.
  • Complete production reports accurately.
  • Coordinate with team to prioritize work orders.

Summary

The primary function of the Slitting Line Operator is to operate the required equipment necessary for the finished product slitting specifications and quality requirements. This position also functions as the data entry clerk to properly label, and tag identify all slit material and is responsible for the overall quality of the slit product.

  • Training will take place Monday-Friday 7am-3pm. Once trained this position will transition to either the 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am shift.

  • Perform all duties to the safety standards established as they relate to the position.
  • Performs set up, adjustments and operation of slitter equipment in such a manner as to minimize waste material.
  • Qualified to operate material handling equipment for placement and transporting of coils to and from slitter.
  • Capable of meeting change over and production standards and schedules.
  • Required to understand the meaning of a quality product and identify solvent pops, roll lines, starve out, etc.
  • Performs work according to finished slitting specifications and product quality requirements.
  • Accurately completes required production reports.
  • Works closely with other slitter team members to complete all work orders.
  • Review scheduled orders with supervisor in order to determine production priorities.

  • Keeps working areas clean and orderly at all times.

  • Must pass basic math test provided by company
Physical Demands
  • Capable of lifting at least 50lbs.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing plant environment with dirt, dust and temperature fluctuations based on seasonal conditions with minimal fans and heaters.
  • Large machinery with moving parts as well as forklift traffic and material storage.
  • Breaks are unscheduled and machinery must be attended at all times.
