Job summary

Skana Aluminum Company seeks a dedicated Slitter Technician for the 3rd shift in Manitowoc, WI. You will operate and maintain slitting machinery to convert aluminum coils into precisely cut products that meet customer specifications, with pay increases as you learn more.

The role emphasizes hands-on operation, safety, and teamwork, including mentoring new members, maintaining quality, and driving productivity gains while following PPE rules and company policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machine operation a plus.
  • Experience operating slitting machines, preferably in aluminum or metal processing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate slitting machines to process aluminum coils according to job orders and customer specifications.
  • Adjust slitter settings, tension control, and machine speeds for precise cuts and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and keep equipment running at peak performance.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality, ensuring adherence to company and customer standards.
  • Monitor production processes and make adjustments to maintain quality and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with quality control and production teams to resolve material or equipment issues.
  • Accurately complete production reports, including material usage and downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment in line with company policy.
  • Help train and mentor new team members on proper slitter operation and safety protocols.
  • Look for opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and product quality.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
