Job summary

Pratt Industries in Carlisle, PA is seeking a Slitter operator to manage setup, operation, cleanup, and continuous improvements on the slitter line. You will enter and verify machine settings, adjust for order changes, and ensure quality alignment with the board and transfer lines.

Responsibilities include monitoring physical quality, performing soak tests, preventing overruns, operating tear-tape preprint, and coordinating with wet end for adjustments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
• Able to apply concepts of high school math.
• May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Responsibilities

• Enter information into computers to set machine for order changes, scores, speed, stack height, sheet count, and number of outs.
• Verify accuracy of information in computer.
• Execute order changes.
• Cross check board with the corrugator dry end lineup or order scheduling display.
• Visually inspect board for quality and defects.
• Perform soak tests as needed.
• Set slitter to bring up the next run as necessary.
• Set-up tear-tape machine and preprint as needed.
• Communicate adjustments to the wet end.
• Clear jams safely and assist in solving problems.
• Submit maintenance work orders for repairs.
• Be proactive in equipment maintenance.
• Adhere to production schedule.
• Suggest schedule optimizations for cost, quality, and service.
