  • Monitoring equipment throughout the production run, conducting quality inspections, and making adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency.
  • Performing roll changes and safely loading, unloading, and positioning rolls on the equipment.
  • Verifying roll width, diameter, winding, edge condition, splice quality, and other applicable specifications.
  • Accurately splicing paper to minimize production interruptions and material waste.
  • Identifying and correcting slab damage, wrinkles, telescoping, loose winding, damaged edges, and other roll defects.
  • Sanding roll edges as necessary to meet quality requirements.
  • Performing daily machine inspections, routine cleaning, lubrication, blade/anvil changes, and preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting equipment problems and performing minor mechanical repairs within operator scope.
  • Safely operating a forklift and clamp truck to transport, position, load, and unload paper rolls up to 6,000 pounds.
  • Following all safety policies, wearing required PPE, utilizing machine guards/lockout-tagout, and participating in Peer-to-Peer Safety Audits.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Possesses strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform setup, routine maintenance, blade changes, and minor mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Can read and understand job tickets, production specifications, work instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Has basic math skills and the ability to accurately perform measurements and calculations.
  • Is able to safely operate a forklift and clamp truck (training provided).
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Works well independently as well as in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Can communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, maintenance, and quality departments.
Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience in paper converting, printing, or manufacturing environments.
  • Prior experience operating forklifts, clamp trucks, or handling large roll-stock materials.
  • Previous experience with machine setups or mechanical maintenance.
Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on manufacturing role that includes:

  • Standing and walking on concrete floors for extended periods during the shift.
  • Frequently bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and climbing as required.
  • Safely lifting, handling, and positioning shafts weighing up to 50 pounds at waist height.
  • Operating powered industrial trucks (forklifts/clamp trucks) handling rolls weighing up to 6,000 pounds.
  • Working safely around moving machinery, rotating equipment, knives, shafts, and pinch points.
