Job summary

Liberty Steel in Warren, OH is seeking a 1st shift Slitter Machine Operator to set up and run a slitting line cutting sheet metal to precise widths from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm. Focus on accurate setup, safe operation, and quality inspection of steel components for the automotive industry.

Responsibilities include adjusting tooling, measuring dimensions, monitoring production, inspecting for defects, following blueprints, and maintaining a clean, safe work area in a loud manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating metal slitting or similar machinery.
• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
• Strong attention to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the slitting machine to cut sheet metal per production requirements and work instructions.
• Install spacers and cutters on arbors, secure tooling.
• Adjust to achieve specified tolerances and maintain accurate strip widths.
• Thread sheet metal and verify dimensions with rulers and micrometers.
• Manage rewinding and adjust guides and tension for proper handling.
• Monitor operation for abnormalities or malfunctions.
• Inspect cut strips for flatness, burrs, defects; take corrective action.
• Operate control panels and interpret blueprints/work instructions.
• Troubleshoot the machine to minimize downtime.
• Assist with press operations and other machine tasks as needed.
• Support die cutting and machine setup activities with tool/die personnel.
• Use grinders, lathes, punch presses, and related shop equipment as directed.
• Follow safety procedures in a loud steel manufacturing environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area around machines.
• Collaborate with team to meet production goals and quality standards.
• Lift materials and tooling up to 50 pounds safely.
