Job summary

Wieland is hiring a 1st Shift Slitting Assistant in Waterbury, CT. The role supports production of material, including packaging, warehouse organization, and operation tasks for tinning and slitting machines; on-site full-time position.

Starting pay is $23.00 per hour with a Monday–Friday 7:00 am–3:30 pm shift. Responsibilities include safety adherence, following JSAs, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting in warehouse and machine support as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Experience operating sit-down forklifts in a manufacturing setting.
• Proficient with banders, hand tools and other job equipment.
• Ability to read customer specs, notices and QA alerts.
• Complies with safety rules and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks safely and identify hazards in production.
• Follow Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and standards.
• Support slitting and tinning operations as needed.
• Provide materials and supplies to operators.
• Organize and maintain warehouse area.
• Pack material per customer specs and QA alerts.
• Handle machine- or job-specific duties as directed.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.

1st Shift Slitting Assistant

Wieland is hiring a 1st Shift Slitting Assistant. The Slitting Assistant will be responsible for all tasks that support the production of material. This includes packaging/handling, warehouse organization, and transportation of material as well as tasks associated with the operation of tinning and slitting machines as determined by the operations supervisor and manager. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay

$23.00 per hour

Schedule

Monday- Friday 1st shift (7:00 am - 3:30 pm)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing all tasks safely and identifying hazards in the production environment.


• Responsible for being familiar with and adhering to all Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).


• Responsible for upholding any and all standards set forth by the management team.


• Assist in slitting and/or tinning operational needs.


• Supply operators material and supplies as needed.


• Assist in organizing and maintaining the warehouse area.


• Responsible for packing material in accordance with customer specifications as well as QA Alerts or posted best practices.


• Responsible for machine specific or situational duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Manager.


• Responsible for keeping work area clean.

Slitting Assistant Responsibilities-Forklift

• Responsible for the safe operation of Sit Down (9K+Capacity) forklifts.

Slitting Assistant Qualifications

• Previous experience with Sit Down Forklifts.


• Competent in the use of banders, hand tools, all other tools associated with the job.


• Ability to read and understand customer specifications, posted notices and QA Alerts.


• Commitment to established values and culture of WMS.


• Full compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures, i.e., Safety, PPE, Attendance, Dress Code., etc.
