Job summary

Wieland in Waterbury, CT is hiring a 1st Shift Slitting Assistant to support production and material handling on-site. The role starts at $23.00 per hour, with Monday–Friday 1st shift (7:00 am - 3:30 pm).

You will assist in slitting and tinning operations, organize the warehouse, and ensure safety and quality standards are followed. Responsibilities include providing materials to operators, packing per specs, and maintaining a clean work area.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with Sit Down Forklifts.
• Ability to read customer specifications and QA alerts.
• Commitment to established safety and company policies.
• Familiarity with banders and basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

Wieland is hiring a 1st Shift Slitting Assistant. The Slitting Assistant will be responsible for all tasks that support the production of material. This includes packaging/handling, warehouse organization, and transportation of material as well as tasks associated with the operation of tinning and slitting machines as determined by the operations supervisor and manager. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $23.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday- Friday 1st shift (7:00 am - 3:30 pm)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing all tasks safely and identifying hazards in the production environment.
• Responsible for being familiar with and adhering to all Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Responsible for upholding any and all standards set forth by the management team.
• Assist in slitting and/or tinning operational needs.
• Supply operators material and supplies as needed.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining the warehouse area.
• Responsible for packing material in accordance with customer specifications as well as QA Alerts or posted best practices.
• Responsible for machine specific or situational duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Manager.
• Responsible for keeping work area clean.

Slitting Assistant Responsibilities - Forklift

• Responsible for the safe operation of Sit Down (9K+Capacity) forklifts.

Slitting Assistant Qualifications

• Previous experience with Sit Down Forklifts.
• Competent in the use of banders, hand tools, all other tools associated with the job.
• Ability to read and understand customer specifications, posted notices and QA Alerts.
• Commitment to established values and culture of WMS.
• Full compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures, i.e., Safety, PPE, Attendance, Dress Code., etc.
