Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc. in Waterbury, CT is hiring a 1st Shift Slitting Assistant responsible for supporting production, packaging, warehousing, and machine operation with tinning and slitting equipment.

The role is on-site with a starting wage of $23.00 per hour and a Monday–Friday 1st shift (7:00 am – 3:30 pm). The ideal candidate will safely perform tasks, operate Sit Down forklifts, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

Wieland is hiring a 1st Shift Slitting Assistant. The Slitting Assistant will be responsible for all tasks that support the production of material. This includes packaging/handling, warehouse organization, and transportation of material as well as tasks associated with the operation of tinning and slitting machines as determined by the operations supervisor and manager. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $23.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday- Friday 1st shift (7:00 am - 3:30 pm)

Responsibilities

Slitting Assistant Responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing all tasks safely and identifying hazards in the production environment.
• Responsible for being familiar with and adhering to all Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Responsible for upholding any and all standards set forth by the management team.
• Assist in slitting and/or tinning operational needs.
• Supply operators material and supplies as needed.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining the warehouse area.
• Responsible for packing material in accordance with customer specifications as well as QA Alerts or posted best practices.
• Responsible for machine specific or situational duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Manager.
• Responsible for keeping work area clean.

Slitting Assistant Responsibilities-Forklift:

• Responsible for the safe operation of Sit Down (9K+Capacity) forklifts.

Slitting Assistant Qualifications:

• Previous experience with Sit Down Forklifts.
• Competent in the use of banders, hand tools, all other tools associated with the job.
• Ability to read and understand customer specifications, posted notices and QA Alerts.
• Commitment to established values and culture of WMS.
• Full compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures, i.e., Safety, PPE, Attendance, Dress Code., etc.
