Job summary

Barfield is seeking a Slide & Oxygen Technician in Louisville, KY. You will learn to pretest, disassemble, repair/overhaul, assemble, and final test aircraft components under FAA guidelines.

Reports to the Shop Lead Technician; training is available and some supervision is expected as you develop skills in this aviation maintenance role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or its equivalent.
• Technical college or Military training is a plus.
• Understand, read, and write English, and have knowledge of basic math.
• Must be able to follow written instructions using schematic diagrams, CMMs, EO’s, and FAA documents.
• Ability to learn to use basic test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Using FAA-approved data, can learn to pretest, disassemble, repair/overhaul, assemble, and final test aircraft components such as Slides, Rafts, Oxygen Cylinders, Masks.
• Reports to the Shop Lead Technician or Shop Manager.
• Will be trainable and may have some supervision.
• Follow company policies and safety procedures.

Barfield is part of the Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) network, a major MRO provider. With a workforce of 14,000, AFI KLM E&M offers technical support for airlines, ranging from airframe maintenance to engine overhaul and repair, and supply of components.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Using FAA-approved data, can learn to pretest, disassemble, repair/overhaul, assemble, and final test aircraft components, including but not limited to Slides, Rafts, Oxygen Cylinders/tanks, Oxygen Masks, and similar components.
• Reports to the Shop Lead Technician or Shop Manager.
• Considered trainable in his or her position.
• Some supervision is expected.
• Must be willing to learn new skills to advance within the company.
• Must be willing to follow company policies and procedures.
• Ability to routinely lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Keep a clean work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills

• High School diploma or its equivalent.
• Technical college or Military training is a plus.
• Understand, read, and write English, and have knowledge of basic math.
• Must be able to follow written instructions using schematic diagrams, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Airline EO’s, and other FAA-approved technical documents.
• Ability to learn the use of basic test equipment, including but not limited to Pressure Gauges, Hydrostatic Testers, Micrometers, Dial Indicators, Torque Wrenches, Calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Must be adaptive and willing to engage new concepts, processes, and technical capabilities.
• Dexterity with hand tools.
• Must be mindful and proactive regarding safety procedures.
• Must be able to identify hazards and follow the shop processes to ensure personal safety and the safety of others
