Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston's Waltham YMCA seeks a Slide Attendant to oversee the aquatics area and ensure patrons follow pool rules for safety and satisfaction. Stationed at the top of the slide, you coordinate with lifeguards to permit rides and monitor safe descent.

Responsibilities include enforcing rules, providing emergency assistance, attending trainings, and delivering friendly customer service while maintaining a neat appearance and reliable availability.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
• May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
• Work outdoors in the sun for the duration of the shift (with appropriate breaks), applicants must be prepared to be outside for 45 minute periods.
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Observe all areas of the pool with clear vision.
• Communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
• Ability to concentrate for long periods of time

• Attend all staff meetings and in-service training, as required.
• Maintain a neat and well groomed personal appearance
• Wear staff uniform and when on duty and appropriate.
• Customer service. Be friendly and able to answer general facility questions.
• Work your scheduled times or find your own qualified substitute.
• Fill out accident reports for any accident no matter how minor.
• Other duties and/or responsibilities, as directed by management

Provides a sense of control over slide usage by members. The Slide Attendant is stationed at the top of the slide, ensuring participants go down when the lifeguard gives the OK and that they go down safely. This will increase the safety of the slide for all patrons.
